ACT Fire & Rescue crews have extinguished a house fire on Irvine Street, Watson.

Residents at the property were alerted to the fire by a working smoke alarm.

ACT Fire & Rescue is reminding Canberrans: "don't stop looking while you're cooking".

Crews have left the scene and the road is now open.

Due to the quick response of firefighters, crews have limited the spread and damage of the fire within the home.

All occupants managed to escape the fire without injury.

Irvine Street remains closed while firefighting operations are underway.
