A powerline has fallen down and caused a fire to break out in the backyard of a residence on Springvale Drive, Weetangera.

ACT Fire & Rescue crews are on scene.

All occupants have evacuated from homes nearby.

The road is closed while the fire is being controlled.

The community is asked to avoid the area.
