Strategic Bushfire Management Plan - Virtual Consultation Session

Community consultation is well underway on version 5 of the ACT’s Strategic Bushfire Manage Plan (SBMPv5). Subject matter experts from the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Parks & Conservation Service have been chatting to members of the Canberra community about the ACT Strategic Bushfire Management Plan (SBMPv5) which outlines how bushfire management is conducted by government, businesses and the community.

What is the SBMP?

Since the catastrophic bushfires of January 2003, and the impact of the 2019-20 fire season, the ACT Government and community have been proactive in implementing plans to provide increased protection against bushfires for people, property and the environment of the ACT.

The Strategic Bushfire Management Plan (SBMP) sets out how to protect the ACT community from bushfires and reduce harm caused by bushfires. This is something we need to do every 5 years.

Consultation will close on 11 June 2025.
