The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Canberra, with heavy rainfall forecast.
The BoM warns that, at 5:30 am, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Gungahlin. This thunderstorm is moving towards the southeast. It is forecast to affect Queanbeyan and Canberra Airport by 6:00 am.
The ACT State Emergency Service advises the community to:
🚗 Move your car under cover and away from trees;
🔒 Secure or put away loose items;
⚡️ Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines;
🏠 Stay indoors away from windows;
🚧 Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater.
