The latest cohort of ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) recruits have graduated from Recruit College 43.
17 new firefighters will join brigades across the capital after completing a gruelling 22-week training course. The program has prepared them to work together, not only within the ACTF&R service but alongside ACT Ambulance Service and volunteers from the ACT State Emergency Service, ACT Rural Fire Service and members of our Community Fire Units.
Among Recruit College 43 is a rocket scientist, a former Crusty Demon motorbike rider & a 29-year plumbing veteran.
As part of the ACTF&R Staff and Development Budget Initiative, an additional 99 firefighter recruits will join the ACTF&R service across the next five years.
Congratulations to the newest recruits and thank you for choosing to protect and support the Canberra community through ACTF&R.
