Dependent on suitable weather conditions ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) will conduct a hazard reduction burn on Sunday, 11 November 2018.
The burn is one hectare in size and will be undertaken in Stromlo Forest Park near 'Blue Gums'. A trail map of the area is available via stromloforestpark.com.au. The Park and trails will remain open to the public.
The burn will reduce potentially hazardous fuel loads and will be used as an exercise to train recruit volunteer firefighters.
Fire crews will be on site from 10:00am and will remain on scene until the burn is extinguished and deemed safe.
While all efforts will be made to minimise smoke impact on the community, the ACT Emergency Services Agency advises smoke will be visible in the surrounding area.
