Fire in the Erindale Shopping Centre

The Erindale Shopping Centre has been evacuated following a fire in the roof space of the building.

ACT Fire & Rescue extinguished the fire quickly. Heavy smoke has affected parts of the shopping precinct which remains closed the public.

Three fire pumpers, the Bronto Ariel appliance, Hazardous Materials vehicle and a Breathing Apparatus support vehicle are on scene.

Fire crews are currently ventilating the area and will begin atmospheric monitoring and fire investigations soon.
