In a life threatening emergency dial Triple Zero (000)
Storm and Flood Assistance
ACT Fire & Rescue and the ACT Rural Fire Service have attended a grass fire in Hume.
Crews were alerted to the incident on the Monaro Highway at 1.18pm and arrived to find a four metre by four metre fire which was quickly extinguished.
It is believed the fire was caused by a cigarette butt thrown from a car window.
The ACT Emergency Services Agency reminds Canberra residents that cigarette butts should never be thrown from cars, regardless of the weather conditions and certainly not on a hot, windy day like today.
