ACT Fire & Rescue has extinguished a unit fire in Hawker.
Crews were alerted to the incident on Springvale Drive at 6:46am and responded with 3 pumpers, the Bronto aerial appliance and two commander vehicles.
The unit was completely destroyed but quick work from firefighters ensured the flames did not spread to other units.
Residents of the building self-evacuated. Three people were assessed by ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics but did not require treatment or transport to hospital.
Initial estimates put the damage bill at approximately $250,000 and the unit directly above the fire suffered significant smoke damage as well.
