Smoke from Victorian fires to cover Canberra

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ACT) warns the Canberra community to expect a thick smoke haze over the city tomorrow morning.

Forecast weather conditions will result in smoke from fires in Victoria being blown across the ACT region overnight.
ACT Health advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and / or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke.

People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.

The ESA will continue to publish emergency alerts, updates and warnings, if a fire starts in the ACT, via this website ( esa.act.gov.au ) and the ESA Twitter and Facebook accounts.

People should only ring emergency triple zero (000) if they see fire or to report a life threatening emergency.
