The ACT Government advises horse owners to be ready to implement their own Bushfire Fire Plan during the EXTREME weather conditions. In the first instance you should keep your horse/s where it is, or float it out to a pre-arranged safer place.
The Equestrian Evacuation Centre at Exhibition Park, Flemington Road, Mitchell is open until 7 pm tonight to receive horses (and other animals) and owners.
If you go to EPIC you must be self sufficient - you must take water and feed buckets, bedding, enough feed for 24 hours and any medication they need.
Horses taken to EPIC must NOT be left unattended.
Please go directly to EPIC'??s Administration Office (beside the main gate -?? Flemington Road) to register before stabling your horse/s. EPIC'??s after hours contact number is 0418 630 034.
