The ACT Rural Fire Service is using specialist Remote Area Firefighting Teams (RAFT) and a waterbombing helicopter to extinguish a forest fire fire burning at central area of Namadgi National Park.
The Bushfire Alert and Warning Level for this fire has been set at ADVICE.
The ACT Rural Fire Service has confirmed there are eight trees that are smouldering over an 8 kilometre area after being struck by lightening on the weekend.
RAFT crews including specialist tree fallers are now working to cut down the trees and and extinguish them. The area will then be waterbombed if required.
At the current fire danger level of low-moderate fires can be easily controlled.
There is little to no risk to life and property from this fire.
