The ACT Rural Fire Service Molonglo Brigade will tomorrow, Saturday 15 December, 2012, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at the Molonglo Rural Fire Brigade station, Drake Brockman Drive, Higgins.
The burn will commence from 2pm to 4pm.
One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, and five personnel will conduct the burn of grass and tree material, approximately four square metres in size.
The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is J10.
The purpose of the burn is to reduce a fire hazard.
Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.
The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
